Military-Tech App MineFree

Axicube UI/UX design agency has enhanced the interface of the military-tech application MineFree.

Over 30% of Ukraine’s territory is contaminated with explosive devices due to the full-scale war. Ukraine is currently the most heavily mined country in Europe. The volunteer organization Free Ukraine, in collaboration with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS), created the MineFree app to allow people to track or report mine dangers, as well as other suspicious and explosive objects. Additionally, it enables users to monitor the ongoing demining process across the country.

MineFree is a complex military-tech project that needs to be equally understandable to children, young people, adults, and the elderly. The initial design was created by the developers themselves. However, it turned out to be insufficiently logically thought out and structured to be convenient for everyone.

The main challenge was the time constraint. There were only two weeks left until the release of the updated version of the application. The team worked a total of 187 working hours. During this time, they managed to reevaluate the logic of MineFree’s operation and create a new interface concept.

Despite being a military project, the design is bright and vibrant. This is important to avoid amplifying stress and not to deter children, who are also part of its audience. The team also developed a Dark Mode theme, considering the likelihood of MineFree being used at night. The interface logic is simplified to the maximum.

In two weeks of work, a new design was developed, and four consecutive iterations of the application were created to plan its further development. Now, MineFree is all about user convenience, clarity, and maximum safety. In fact, the project’s logic is built on its design, and it is through this design that the application’s tasks are accomplished. Shortly after its release, MineFree made it into the top 10 apps on the AppStore.
