Histogram: filling historical gaps

SAPHIRA creative agency, in collaboration with historian Igor Poluektov, developed the website Histogram to fill historical gaps. The main feature of the Histogram website is an interactive timeline of all known events and gaps in the history of Ukraine, from the appearance of the first humans to the present day.

Igor Poluektov, a historian enthusiast who has been conducting an information war since 2014 by uncovering previously unknown facts about Ukraine in global archives, and since February 2022, defending the country within the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, approached SAPHIRA creative agency. He needed a website where he could store and publish his discoveries for the wider public.

The project vividly illustrates how rich in events the history of Ukraine is, and at the same time, how much remains undiscovered.

The main feature of the Histogram website is the interactive timeline of all known events and gaps in the history of Ukraine, from the appearance of the first humans to the present day. Importantly, this timeline is not static; it evolves and changes with each new historical discovery.

This concept was extended to the project’s logo: the letter «H» itself seems to be formed from gaps and well-known events. This, along with the logo animation, makes the primary symbol dynamic, much like history itself.
