Violence is a tradition to be abandoned
Vandog Agency developed visual communication for the public organization «La Strada-Ukraine» to prevent domestic violence.
From generation to generation, we have lived with the false belief that violence is normal and that hitting means love. These beliefs were embedded in our consciousness, forming a kind of life pattern for our ancestors. New generations of Ukrainians still inherit these patterns, thinking, «this is the right way to live, this is how we should build relationships and find happiness».
«Daughter, be patient, because you must be obedient and feminine».
«Son, be aggressive, because you must be tough and brutal».
Like embroidery patterns, these beliefs are passed down from our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. But in today’s world, we know that these patterns do not work. Violence is not about happy relationships, not about passion, not about jealousy from great love, but about destruction and abuse.
So, we choose to «embroider» our own life scenarios. We reject all the stereotypes and prejudices imposed on us. We «embroider» harmonious relationships where there is no place for aggression and gender stereotypes.
We urge you not to stay silent about violence. Together, we can overcome this problem.
With this goal in mind, Vandog Agency teamed up with La Strada-Ukraine and started a joint effort to combat this issue.
In addition to the striking visuals designed to raise awareness, important hotline numbers were also shared:
116 123 – National hotline for prevention of domestic violence, human trafficking and gender discrimination
116 111 – National hotline for children and youth
