The longest marathon in the world
Gres Todorchuk and the Ukrainian international logistics group Nova Post organized «The longest marathon in the world». This project was created to express gratitude and support for defenders, doctors, rescuers, volunteers — all resilient marathoners who have been bringing Ukraine closer to victory for over 9 years.
Marathon is a run that requires endurance, perseverance, and strength. Ukraine has been overcoming its marathon for life and freedom since 2014. Millions of people defend, rescue, treat, and support Ukraine, risking their own lives.
On October 29, the Gres Todorchuk agency and Nova Post held «The longest marathon in the world». This project was created to thank and support defenders, doctors, rescuers, volunteers – all resilient marathoners who have been bringing Ukraine closer to victory for over 9 years.
Anyone who wished could run the distance for their hero or heroine both in Kyiv and anywhere on the planet and dedicate a medal to them.
The project was supported by over 14,000 people from 65 countries around the world and on all continents. «The longest marathon in the world» was run in Australia, America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and even on islands. Poland took first place in the number of registrations.
Each marathoner had a starting number on which, instead of numbers, there were facts about the war in Ukraine, as well as the names of people to whom the participants dedicated their run.
Instead of registration fees to participate in the race, the marathoners donated to the «Pack the Sky — Upgrade the UAV» fund and the «Come Back Alive» foundation.
In Kyiv, about 2000 people joined the marathon with a distance of one kilometer. People with prosthetics, who are recovering at the National Rehabilitation Center «Unbroken», and servicemen from the «Azov» regiment, representatives of the Association of Families of Defenders «Azovstal», and hundreds of other participants also took part in the run. Thanks to the charity marathon, over 2 million hryvnias were raised.
