RPG-30 “Hook”
Gram painted a trophy tube from the RPG-30 “Hook” grenade launcher for a charity raffle on Dima Maleev’s channel. The general idea of the illustration is to convey the feelings that unite millions of Ukrainians frame by frame.
Instead of a coherent story, we depicted individual shots taken out of the context of a year of full-scale war.
Each of the illustrations on the tube has its own interpretation:
- The staircase-ladder represents the unknown, the internal swings of losing and the exaltation of winning. It is an association with descending into a shelter, and for some people, climbing to the upper floors during a power outage.
- The profile with the eye means caution and suspicion, distrust from small to large.
- The hand represents “great concern” from international organizations and empathy from our own: all those moments when we were physically in Lviv, we were mentally in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia – everywhere where the enemy committed unprecedented crimes.
- The foot is the road. From Kyiv to Lviv, from Lviv to Warsaw, from Warsaw to another European city in search of safety for ourselves, our families, and our children.
- The person is depicted in a neutral color, with no sign of individuality. After all, in wartime, everyone is equal.
- The red flower represents the destroyed spring: Bucha, Borodyanka, Gostomel, the tragedies in Mariupol.
- The bleeding female profile does not need metaphors. This is a common image of women, mothers, and sisters.
- The chair is a torture chamber.
- The animal is a horned animal guarding its crown, but it is not on its head. An allusion to weapons and nuclear blackmail.
- The morning star is the dawn: our hope and guide.
- The bird is freedom – what we are fighting for. The bird is encoded in the Ukrainian trident – focused, focused, with a direct, firm gaze, it flies after the star. We also see it as a reflection of our aviation and look forward to the delivery of new “birds” for Ukraine.
