The onset of the full-scale Russian invasion under the false pretenses of “defending Russian language and culture” has reinvigorated the question of their societal influence, use and true essence.
On the temporarily occupied territories Russians have continually been promoting brutal erasure of Ukrainian culture and nation as a whole: murdering civilians and swiftly destroying all traces of Ukrainian language, history and education. However, a part of our society, and, more so, the world are still clinging to the idea of Russian language and culture being absolutely separate and isolated from the chauvinistic and violent actions of modern Russia.
They saw the vivid manifestation of Russian language and culture in bullet holes in residential buildings, civilian cars, playgrounds on the de-occupied territories. They traced those holes from photos, taken in Bucha and Irpin, and created on their basis the free-to-use typeface «Russian Bullet», that allows Russian language to be displayed properly across any media. To show what it currently is at a face value. A weapon.
